About Us

The Governor Morehead Foundation is a 501(c)(3) that supports the Governor Morehead School, (GMS), a public residential school serving students who are visually-impaired across North Carolina. The Foundation raises funds to cover student and school needs that are not met through state and federal funds received by the school. The Foundation is overseen by a Board of Directors who strongly believe that GMS students should have the same opportunities as any student in a traditional school.  To that end, the board meets quarterly to address student/school funding needs, assess goals, and plan fundraising activities and partnerships.

Please consider making a donation to the Foundation in support of GMS. Any donation made to the GM Foundation is tax deductible.

Our Vision

In service to the Governor Morehead School so the students may achieve a more successful future.

Our Mission

To foster the enlightenment of children and young adults of North Carolina with vision-impairment by providing funding for life experiences, for academic programs and vision services, for staff enrichment, and for initiatives of Governor Morehead School students both current and former.
